What Is Dry Granulating Machine?

After one-step granulating technology, dry granulating technology (also called roller compacting )is also developed. It is also a kind of environment-friendly granulating technology and widely applied in pharmaceutical industry especially to granulate material which is sensitive to moisture and heat or easy to block.
 
1. Working principle of roller compactor
Material is dosed by a vibrating hopper and a transverse auger feeder and fed into the main hopper. Its level in the main hopper can keep constant. Then the longitudinal cone of the main hopper can pre-compress the material spirally and convey it to the curved notch of two pressing rollers. Semi-oblate arc grooves or rhombus with the same shape are evenly distributed on the surface of the two rollers. A pair of gears mesh with each other to make the two rollers rotate reversely at constant speed. Therefore, the material at the notch can be fed into the groove and compressed instantly. After compression, pressure on the material reduces while it falls to the sieving system due to elasticity and gravity. In this system, the material will be screened. At last, granules with qualified granularity are produced and remaining powder will be recycled.

 
The dry granulating machine consists of lifting device, material feeding device, compressing device, sieving device, hydraulic device, cooling device, frame, cover and electric parts.
 
1) The lifting device controls lifting and lowering of material feeding device. A limit switch controls its position and it interlocks with material feeding device, compressing device and sieving device.
2) A motor drives the biconical auger with unequal pitch in the material feeding device to pre-compress the material and exhaust gas in it. The feeding speed can be controlled steplessly (by frequency control of speed).
3) A motor drives the cycloid-pin-annulus reducer to make driving shaft rotate and thus drive the two pressing rollers to rotate and compress the material to sheet. The rotating speed of pressing rollers can be controlled steplessly (by frequency control of speed).
4) At the sieving device, frequency controlling motor drives sieving knife to rotate so that sheet material is reshaped to granules and discharged through the meshes.
5) At the hydraulic device, an electric vane pump supplies oil to the oil cylinder and an accumulator stabilizes the pressure. The upper and lower pressure limit can be set by an electric contact pressure gauge.
6) Running water or cooling water can run through a rotary joint of two-way inner pipe and cool the pressing rollers compulsorily.
 
All in all, this machine is featured by novel and reasonable structure, stable and reliable performance, low noise and convenient cleaning and maintenance.
