Recently, a complete integrated production line for wet granulation and fluid bed drying, customized for a Polish pharmaceutical manufacturer, has fully passed Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and is ready for shipment to the customer’s facility in Europe.


This turnkey solid dosage processing line consists of the HLSG-50 high-shear wet mixer granulator, SZ-300 wet sizing mill, FLB-15 fluid bed processor (for granulation & coating), 4-layer vibratory sifter and conical blender. It delivers fully closed, continuous processing covering powder mixing, wet granulation, wet sizing, fluid bed drying, particle coating and multi-stage particle classification, fully complying with EU GMP requirements for pharmaceutical production environments.


Project Layout Overview


The whole production area is divided into two functional zones: Granulation & Dressing Room for core processing equipment and an independent Accessories Room housing air handling units and main electrical control cabinets. This partition design optimizes operation ergonomics, simplifies routine maintenance and avoids cross-contamination between auxiliary utilities and material processing zones. All layout drawings were reviewed, signed and confirmed by the Polish client’s representative during FAT inspection on April 4, 2026.


Core Equipment & Technical Advantages


  1. HLSG-50 High-Shear Wet Mixer Granulator

  • Controlled by Siemens PLC system with dual variable frequency drives, enabling independent speed adjustment of stirring paddles and cutting choppers to adapt to diverse powder formulations

  • All product contact surfaces manufactured from 316L stainless steel, meeting pharmaceutical hygiene standards

  • Equipped with integrated LYJ-30 automatic binder feeding station: diaphragm pump delivery, pneumatic mixing, thermal insulation system and mobile 30L insulated stainless steel tank, ensuring consistent binder temperature and concentration to improve granule uniformity

  • Key electrical components: Delta inverters, Schneider circuit breakers & relays, AirTAC solenoid valves and Siemens 7-inch touchscreen, delivering stable long-term operation

2. SZ-300 Wet Sizing Mill (Inline Connected Design)

The wet mill is rigidly linked to the wet granulator to achieve fully enclosed material transfer. Extruded wet granules flow directly from granulator chamber to sizing unit without manual handling, drastically reducing dust exposure and cross-contamination risks. It adopts a 3.7 kW Delta variable frequency drive with adjustable rotational speed to suit wet masses of different viscosity and moisture levels. The main frame is constructed from 304 stainless steel.

3. FLB-15 Multifunctional Fluid Bed Processor (Granulation + Coating + Drying)

This fluid bed unit is the core of the integrated line, featuring a custom tapered expansion chamber for uniform airflow and consistent fluidization performance. It supports top-spray granulation and bottom-spray coating with two independent spray gun assemblies, realizing multi-process functionality on one single machine:
  • Top-spray system: Peristaltic pump, insulated mixing tank and dedicated spray gun for fluid bed granulation & drying

  • Bottom-spray coating system: Tapered expansion partition, dedicated coating hopper and bottom spray guns for film coating of finished granules

  • Both spray systems share one 30L pneumatic insulated mixing tank to save footprint and cut investment cost

  • Control system: Siemens PLC + 10-inch HMI touchscreen, with built-in surface cooling & dehumidification unit, hot/cold air circulation system and real-time inlet/exhaust air humidity monitoring (data displayed directly on touchscreen)

  • Optional CIP single-circuit cleaning system: Fitted with four 360° rotating spray balls, independent cleaning pump and dedicated piping, enabling automated internal cleaning to minimize manual cleaning workload

  • All product contact parts are made of 316L stainless steel, fully compliant with pharmaceutical hygiene specifications

4. 4-Layer Vibratory Sifter

A 400 mm diameter multi-layer vibratory sifter is installed at the end of the process line. All contact surfaces are 316 stainless steel, providing multi-stage particle classification to separate granules into different particle size fractions and enhance finished product uniformity.

5. Conical Blender with Visual Safety Fence

The conical powder blender is fitted with a visual safety interlock fence. The system automatically triggers safety alarms and machine shutdown when operators approach the rotating working zone, fully complying with EU machinery safety directives to guarantee on-site operator safety.

Fully Enclosed Continuous Processing Line Design

The highlight of this project is the seamless closed connection between wet mixer granulator, inline wet sizing mill and fluid bed processor. Materials flow through the entire production cycle from raw powder feeding to finished graded granules in a fully sealed pipeline system. This design eliminates repeated manual material transfer, drastically cuts dust emission, reduces material loss and cross-contamination risks, and greatly elevates production automation and efficiency, fully satisfying strict EU GMP cleanroom standards.

Smooth Completion of FAT Inspection

The on-site Factory Acceptance Test was fully documented with FAT video recordings captured throughout all inspection procedures. The Polish customer’s authorized inspector conducted item-by-item verification covering equipment appearance, component bill of materials, full-load operational performance, safety interlock functions and hygiene compliance. All equipment runs smoothly under no-load and simulated production conditions; inter-system linkage and touchscreen control logic operate as designed. All technical parameters meet contractual specifications. The client representative signed and approved all construction layout drawings after inspection, expressing high recognition of the equipment’s manufacturing quality and automation performance.
